Sunday 12 November 2017 is a date fixed in many people’s calendars as it sees the nation pause to remember our fallen heroes from conflicts as far back as the First World War right through to modern day tours of duty.

Ashover Band are proud to support two remembrance services within the band’s local community, beginning the day with a Service of Remembrance in the picturesque village of Ashover from 10.30am, followed later in the day by a Laying of the Wreaths and Service of Remembrance in Birchover.

Andy Davey, Musical Director, said it was a privilege for the band to be part of the efforts, once again, of our local community to remember the contribution given by many in conflicts; past and present.

Lest we forget.

Ashover Band are set to return to the popular out of town shopping centre, Peak Shopping Village, Rowsley for the first of their series of performances there over the festive season.

Friday 4 November sees the band take to the platform at the converted railway station with a host of festive favourites from their Christmas repertoire, as part of the Christmas Lights Switch On event being held by the village, with special guest Craig Bailey from Peak FM.

There will also be street food, market stalls as well as late night shopping and plenty for the kids including Santa’s grotto, activities and Peaky the train will be there too.

Ashover Band are very pleased to have been invited back for the 2016 season to provide live entertainment over the Christmas events held at the Peak Shopping Village. Trevor Durham, Band Secretary said he was delighted to receive the invitation once again and iterated that it was a pleasure to work alongside the village at this special time of year.

The band is looking forward to a busy Christmas season of engagements; and rehearsals are well underway for the ‘most wonderful time of the year’ including village carols, further Christmas light switch on events, and not forgetting our own Christmas concert; “Together this Christmas” which will be hosted in the acclaimed Ashover Parish Hall on Saturday 10 December.

MAY DAY PARADE

Pictures from today’s May Day Parade in Ashover, a bit chilly but at least the rain held off (for us).

You can next see the band at the Railale Beer Festival at the Barrow Hill Roundhouse on Saturday 21 May.

Easter Sunrise at The Fabrick

For the first time in living memory we actually saw the sun rise at the Easter Day service at The Fabrick on Sunday 27 March, something of a reward for the early start after the clocks went forward.

Thanks to all involved, especially the breakfast crew back at The Bassett Rooms.

Easter and May Day

We will be playing at The Fabrick (Ashover Rock) for the traditional Easter morning service at 6.30am on Sunday 27 March, a very uplifting event.

After that you can see the band at the Ashover May Day parade on Monday 2 May, here we are in all our glory from last year, about to set off up Church Street.
